Ila Patnaik served as Principal Economic Advisor to the Government of India from May 2014 – December 2015.
She is an economist and is currently playing a key role in shaping the future of the young minds at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy.
She has worked with esteemed institutions such as the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), Indian Council for Research in International Economic Relations (ICRIER), and Economics Editor, Indian Express. Her main areas of interest include – open economy macroeconomics, including issues related to capital flows, the exchange rate regime, monetary policy, business cycles and the financial sector in the context of the opening of the capital account.
She has also co-authored the book – ‘The Rise of the BJP: The Making of the World’s Largest Political Party’ with Bhupendra Yadav, a senior member of BJP and Union cabinet Minister for two ministries.
