Sonal Mansingh was nominated by the President of India to Rajya Sabha in July 2018 in recognition of her lifelong dedication and service to Indian art forms. She is the recipient of the highest civilian awards of Padma Vibhushan (2003) and Padma Bhushan (1992) from the President of India. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi nominated her as a NAVRATNA for Swachh Bharat Mission (Clean India Mission).
Her unique contribution has been her lifelong work using her knowledge to address socio-cultural issues through the chosen medium of a solo dancer, teacher, choreographer and motivational speaker.
As the Founder-President of Shri Kamakhya Kalapeeth (Centre for Indian Classical Dances, estd. in 1977 at Delhi) she has trained several hundred talented students who are carrying the message of Indian culture globally. She teaches the art form as a holistic concept combining music, yoga, Sanskrit and cultural traditions of India.
