A New-Age star, Bickram Ghosh is known to be one of the most renowned percussionists in the country. Often heralded as a multi-talented virtuoso, Bickram has carved out his own niche in diverse avatars – as a classical musician, a contemporary artiste and a composer. As the son and disciple of Tabla-maestro, Pandit Shankar Ghosh, he has also trained himself in Carnatic percussion and has also performed alongside the legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar who honed his skills in the art of accompaniment. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest Tabla players today and his pioneering work has made him a youth icon of the country. His work has created a revival of interest in classical music, even for those who are not ardent listeners of the genre. He is one of the rare players who is often approached for several international projects. Bickram has been recently awarded the second highest West Bengal state civilian award of Banga Bhushan.
